Post-op Sports Bras

Today, I'd like to discuss with you something very important—jagonga holders, AKA, bras. Not just any bras, post-mastectomy sports bras. When I was preparing to workout again after my surgery, my plastic surgeon told me what I needed to look for in a sports bra and after some trial and error I found my top 3 sports bras for working out post-op. Here are my reccomendations:

1. American Sports Bra

This bra is made specifically for women who are post-op and the clips are in the front, which is a must for right after surgery, because you have reduced range of motion in your arms making it really difficult to pull things over your head. Take it from me, I got tangled trying on a sports bra at Athleta that you pull over your head and had to call for help...how embarrassanteeee. I would wear this bra right when you're starting to get back into working out again, it's really perfect. It's also super important to get the bra that doesn't have wires, especially right after your surgery!

2. Hullabraloo Bra by Athleta

I really love this bra because it keeps the girls strapped in for high intensity workouts like running hard. The most important thing I have learned is to get a bra that doesn't go too long on your torso, because the lower it goes the more it will restrict you ribcage and diaphragm from expanding when you're breathing heavily. After your surgery your chest muscles will be tight, restricting your breathing already. Athleta also has a post-surgical bra as well, but this bra is for medium/low impact exercise and mostly for post surgical recovery.

3. Prairiewear

This bra is not only for great compression post surgery, but also for working out! This bra is a little longer on your torso, so I really love it for lifting or cycling! It comes in different sizes and also comes with an extender, so if you want it a little more loose right after your surgery you can put your extender in and when you get back to working out you can take the extender out.

Happy shopping!
